In prayerful remembrance of Pope Francis, Bishop David Zubik of the Diocese of Pittsburgh invite the faithful and the community to join in the following observance: Mass for the Holy Father, Pope Francis.
With deep sorrow, respect, and love, I join the faithful of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, and people around the world, in mourning the death of our Holy Father, Pope Francis.
We should all be shocked at the reported act of arson at the residence of Governor Josh Shapiro and his family. Particularly during this Holy Week for Christians and Passover time for the Jewish people, we focus on the deep love that God has for all of us.
There are numerous opportunities for the faithful to enter into the mystery of these holy days through liturgies celebrated by Bishop David Zubik at Saint Paul Cathedral, as well as community events that he will host.
The Most Reverend David Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh, has appointed Ms. Karen Kolenik as the next Principal of Oakland Catholic High School, effective July 1, 2025.
With gratitude, we receive today’s update on the health of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, and continue to pray for his strength and well-being. As he unveils a three-year synodal plan shaped by the voices of the faithful worldwide, we are reminded of the Church’s mission to walk together in communion, participation, and mission.
As devastating fires ravage homes, churches, and entire communities across Southern California, I urge everyone to join in prayer for an end to these destructive blazes. Let us lift up those who have been harmed, offering them not only our prayers but also our tangible support and compassion.
Everyone is welcome to attend the celebration, with liturgy in Spanish, English and other languages, sponsored by the Latino ministry of the Diocese of Pittsburgh and its Latino Catholic Apostolate. A special invitation has been extended to Catholic high schools to encourage young people to come, said Jorge Vela, coordinator of the ministry.
On Friday, November 29, 2024 at 8:30 a.m., Bishop David Zubik and Christians from across the Pittsburgh area will partner with Amen to Action to pack meals for the needy at North Catholic High School. This is the final of 12 food packing events held at local Christian organizations in November 2024. Everyone is invited to attend.
